Demovation 2018 – Phase 1, Day 1

Sort Of…

Well, not much to report about Day 1. The concrete polishing company had some difficulties, so they were unable to start Monday. They assured me that this isn’t an issue for meeting the deadline of completion. I’ve been calm about this. Eerily calm, my friends who know me well might say, because normally, I’m a very passionate person.

We hadn’t paid the concrete company yet, so if they bailed on us, we weren’t out anything other than effort and sanity. I was a wee bit miffed that I had to be the one to follow up, but I reminded myself that they’d had a MONDAY, in all caps, and the craziness would begin in the morning.  Instead of hanging out in our incredibly overstuffed upstairs all night, The Hubs and I headed out to dinner. The Snowball of Home Improvement Projects was about to gather speed.

The Hubs and I had been talking about getting rid of the sofa and loveseat in the front room and moving our family room furniture in its place. We’d looked, off and on, but hadn’t found anything that really struck our fancy. A well-known furniture company was having a huge sale, and as it’s by the house, we stopped in. This was both good and bad. We have a habit of going to ‘just look’ and wind up making a purchase. I should also admit that I had spent a fair amount of time on their website looking at couches and love seats that would fit our needs. I had model names, so I was armed.

It took much less time to pick the furniture out than to pick the fabrics. I’m surprised The Hubs didn’t just give up and walk out. It was hard to make a decision. And of course, at the end, when I think I found something I liked, he threw the biggest monkey wrench into it. “Will that go with our artwork?” Hmmph. No. We started over on the fabric selection. Three hours after it began, we had secured our order. This snowball had picked up speed and was rolling downhill at an alarming rate. I might add, a few days later, I had decided that I didn’t like our fabric selection. That’s a story for another time.
